Blending autofiction and social critique, “If You’re Poor, You Keep Your Fears” by Silvia Clo Di Gregorio is a vivid account of the anxieties facing new — or supposedly new — generations, constantly asked to stay afloat. Between social pressure, systemic inequality, and the absence of real support from governments that still fail to meet their citizens’ needs, the story asks: what does it take to build a future today?
Published on Topsy Kretts (October 2024), the piece explores queer parenthood, class, and the intimate contradictions of contemporary life with irony, honesty, and tenderness.
